If you’re looking to buy a home in the Tampa area, you want to get the best deal possible. One way to help bring the price more in line with your expectations: Check the flooring. Is it consistent throughout the home, or it is obvious that the flooring has been done piecemeal over the years? It may not look the greatest, but an inconsistent flooring aesthetic can get you a lower purchase price because it’s going to take some work and money to get everything updated.
A home with multiple types of tile in every room should not necessarily be a deal breaker for you. The tile can be removed but there is also the option of laying a floating floor on top of the existing tile floor.
Think of the tile floor as an extension of the concrete or sub-floor. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP), laminate and engineered wood floors intended to float are all good solutions to being rid of the “mosaic” effect of multiple different tiles.
If you’re looking for a home to buy, different floors in every room may help you negotiate a lower price from a aesthetic standpoint and ultimately may be easier to deal with than you think when considering updates.
